The East Baton Rouge Parish School System offers a wide variety of programs that are destined to provide quality education, which will equip all students to function at their highest potential in a complex and changing society. Opportunities for services are provided to students beginning at the preschool level (ages 3 to 5) and continuing through the age of 21.
Placement and services flow from the needs of the students identified through a referral process that includes a multidisciplinary evaluation (MDE) which provides the foundation for the development of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) prior to making a placement decision for participation in one or more of the the Special Education programs.
Programs are designed to meet the needs of the individual and range from classes for those identified as high functioning to those needing community based settings. Students at all levels and settings address state benchmarks and standards of the grade level. Modifications and accommodations are used as needed to address the functioning level of the student.
In keeping with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System's goal to provide quality education for all students in all setting, regular assessments are made to determine the quality of instructional programs as well as the appropriateness of an individual's placement within a setting.
